Synopsis
Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) is a 12-year-old boy who lives in Detroit. One day his mother, Sherry (Taraji Henson), moved to China, so that Dre had followed him to move to China. Although at first hates country and wanted to get back to America, Dre began to slightly change when acquainted with a girl named May Ying (Han Wenwen). Familiarity both create Cheng (Zhenwei Wang), a friend of May, did not accept. By using the knowledge he has kung fu, he easily beat Dre.

My Review
The Karate Kid is a remake of the old movie with the same title made in 1984 ago. And thankfully, unlike most movie remakes that become even more severe, this one virtually AMAZING!
In terms of plot, although there is little difference in the background, but largely the same. How to Mr. Han teaches kung fu to Dre by using general motion that can be done daily also similar to the way Mr. Miyagi 26 years ago. And obviously, the tournament at the final session of the film is also similar to the original version. What should be given a thumbs is how the director, Harald Zwart, managed to display the beauty of China WITHOUT have to stick to the wall of China. Also election of May Ying character who, although not pretty, but thicken the nuances of China in The Karate Kid.
In terms of players, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith was clearly proud of giving birth Jaden Smith. With a face and demeanor really Will Smith, Jaden clearly show their natural talent as an actor. Even to play in this movie, he does not hesitate to learn kung fu in advance for months and own ALL melakoni scene in the film without using a stunt double. For Jackie Chan feels no doubt. After his last few films whose quality is slightly below average, the Drunken Master was finally able to show more skill. Taraji Henson's role as a mother Dre also should not be underestimated.
