Of course, very enjoyable, and heartening, to know that a group of Indonesian filmmakers still want to bother to explore the potential of the natural beauty of Indonesia in finding a new story to the point of view conveyed in a series of films that they present. Kamila Andini is one of the few number of members of the group Indonesian filmmakers are able to boldly explore the natural beauty of Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, for use in the direction marked the birth film debut, The Mirror Never Lies. Backed by a capable acting department as well as sound production is deft, no doubt make The Mirror Never Lies into a dish that manages to look much different from most Indonesian films released that much lately.
The Mirror Never Lies will invite viewers to explore the anxiety heart of a little girl from the Bajo tribe who live in the middle of the ocean beauty of Wakatobi in Southeast Sulawesi, called Pakis (Gita Novalista) result in a long while did not meet with the father who never returned after his departure from berlaut. The only memories left by his father to Pakistan is a mirror that always brought Pakis wherever she goes - something considered quite disturbing by his mother, Tayung (Atiqah Hasiholan). Tayung itself rather than not feel sad for not returning her husband. However, like all other human adult, Tayung have a more powerful ability in concealing pain and hurt he feels from the world.
When tudo (Reza Rahadian), a dolphin researcher from Jakarta, arrived and entered the life and Tayung Ferns, Ferns initially felt very sympathetic with the presence of the man. Even so, with tenderness and attention that he always show to Pakistan, his best friend, LUMO (Eko), as well as children from other Bajo tribe when various scientific knowledge about the importance to safeguard and respect the environment, slowly began to fall in love with Pakis tudo . However, Pakistan is not the only woman who feels it. In another corner, began slowly Tayung sow the seed of a different attention to the man who came from Jakarta.
When The Mirror Never Lies has a row of cast and good production line capable of making this movie as a classy presentation, viewers are likely to feel that they will not be able to connect fully with stories that were presented throughout the film that lasts 100 minutes of this. Stories about the anxiety heart of a girl abandoned by her father has become a premise of the story is quite inspiring. However, when presented in a convoluted, and without any window of opportunity that a resolution will be presented, the premise of the story began to seem to hang, exhausting and slowly cut off the flow of emotions to create opportunities that would otherwise be created between the audience with stories that were presented.
Storyline the film itself is presented by using the fern as the main character penceritaannya. Not surprisingly, then all points of view story the film is filled up by the Pakis viewpoint. Unfortunately, this gives a very narrow space for other characters to develop. Character mother Pakis, Tuyong, which should be able to be given space to show a wider loss of her husband, seemed abandoned and only use a few pieces of scenes only. Character tudo, which is presented to provide a spark new story in the second half of the movie, also never really able to be present to fill in every scene. Its character as a dolphin researcher also never unearthed. The audience is never given the opportunity to see and know how tudo performance as a dolphin researcher. Various deficiency is then made The Mirror Never Lies never managed to establish good communication with the audience. The audience is given many long scenes nan Wakatobi serene natural beauty, but never really feel that they connect with the characters in the storyline.
Even so, Kamila Andini lucky that he was endowed with a group of teams that can work well in producing a work that is able to be proud of. Line of this movie actor - contains a row of professional actors and young actors and the untrained derived from Bajo own tribe - can give acting ability that really can turn their character. But clearly, the main star of The Mirror Never Lies is a cinematographer, Rachmat "Ipung" Syaiful, which intelligently presenting the beauty of different paronama Wakatobi, both natural scenery and underwater scenery, which will be able to make everyone wish that they were in the area.
The Mirror Never Lies is a business that is very worthy to be given the highest praise. Not only because these filmmakers attempt to lift Indonesia's natural beauty and community life around him in their efforts to bring a new perspective of storytelling, but also because they really succeeded in presenting it in an entertaining show. Indeed, The Mirror Never Lies are not perfect. Storyline that revolves around the premise that for too long and the failure of development of some characters in the story make this movie emotional strength slowly fading so that The Mirror Never Lies sometimes seem tiring. However, apart from that, is very pleasing to get a new dish and not monotonous when you watch a movie on the big screen. For the courage to bring these innovations, The Mirror Never Lies feels deserves thumbs up.
